Our adventures with street painting started way back at the turn of the century – Memorial Day Weekend 2000 in Santa Barbara, California. We got together with a large group of friends squished together onto a small patch of pavement and smudged out an image. We’ve returned each year since then, with our friends for a few years, and on our own since 2003. This year we will participate in six to eight festivals nationwide (but mostly in California, where we live).

The two of us bring different skills to a painting, which allows us to work on the same image without killing one another. It also allows us to complete larger and more technically challenging subjects. We are always on the lookout for new and interesting things to draw, but our favorite images are those that tell a visual story. We often include small “Easter Egg” treasures in our paintings—the TARDIS from Doctor Who, a dinosaur skeleton’s Game Boy or a really tiny parrot on a pirate’s shoulder. These sorts of things give people something to talk about, and make our interaction with the viewers even more fun.

When we are not out playing in the street, Wayne runs a small Architectural practice in San Jose, California. His work focuses on commercial projects – office buildings, restaurants, shops, high-tech companies and even toilet room remodels. Cheryl has a small Landscape Design business specializing in Mediterranean climate design and reigns over her loyal subjects in her garden Queendom. In addition to street painting, we both enjoy drawing and watercolor painting.

We are grateful to have been invited to participate at the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival and look forward to meeting everyone out in the street!
